It’s dusty in here. Almost like the owner just up and left the place.
I hate when I qualify as a “stat”. When I started blogging I read that most bloggers give up around month six. My last post was at the end of June. I started my blog in January. You do the math.
In all honesty it is summer around these parts and the summer is always a buzzin’ good time for me. Sometimes a little too heavy on the buzzin’ part.
I spent four nights at The Treehouse - Babs’ cottage near Westport. Babs once did a guest post for me about some Facebook folly. She is also a frequent commenter here and well, she corrects my spelling and grammar. I know, I know. An editor WITH a cottage? How lucky can one girl get? My children did not accompany us this year so I quickly regressed to my younger days and behaved as though I was 18 years old. That’s where the heavy on the buzzin’ thing comes in.
Needless to say it was a great time spent with great friends. We drank, ate and made merry. On the last night we played our favourite card game “Gravy”. I laughed so hard I pulled an abdominal muscle. Seriously.
Oh. And I bought new shoes. Weird statement to throw in there when it comes to vacationing at a cottage but hey, I love shoes. And hey, Babs’ cottage is close to Kilborns- shoe emporium extraordinaire.
From The Treehouse I had one night at home and it was off to London for me and my teenager, Colin. We visited my brother and his family in their newly renovated flat in West London.
London offered all sorts of fun and fancy including preparations for the Olympics, Big Ben, the Tower of London and Hampton Palace – home to none other than Henry VIII – who, by the way, I am totally obsessed with. All of this and the horrific story of a lady with a hole in her face. Please stay tuned for Part Deux of this post which I promise will be produced in the next few days. It feels good to be back.
I have been at this post for an hour and a half and due to the complete RIDICULOUSNESS of the photo uploader the majority of my time has been spent dealing with the photos. I have only had time to muster up about 300 words. If anyone reads this and could tell me an easy way to deal with the uploader and also how to get the captions CENTRED under the pictures I would greatly appreciate it. Also, is there a way to eliminate the horizontal line that begins the captions? And why did the first picture of my new shoes cut off the end of my toes? It did NOT look like that in the original! Grrrrrrrr!

I made it to about month 18 and I ran out of steam too…although I just posted today. I guess dusting the cobwebs once in awhile can’t hurt. Of course summer is buzzing in more than one way around these parts too
I think that Treehouse dock rocks!!
Thanks for sharing!!
Cheers, Jenn
Thanks Jenn! I guess we all run out of steam now and again. I must say it felt good to finally get a post up. I will have to have a read of yours. And affirmative on the Treehouse dock. It totally rocks!
I look forward to more photos. Are you uploading the huge files, or did you resize them for the web?
I did resize the ones that were too big. I am having the most trouble just with positioning the pictures within the document itself. I was attempting to line the two shoe pictures up horizontally. After 20 minutes and me shouting every curse word known to mankind I said “f$^k it” and lined them up vertically. Just the thought of it is making me sweat because it turns a simple task – writing a post – into a huge undertaking. Okay I am going to go find my inner zen. Thanks Birdman!
Dang my place looks good! Love this post (No …. not because I’m a feature of sorts – because you are back at it) … and I have missed your posts.
The memories of the hysterical laughter got me laughing all over again. Don’t forget your fantabulous imitation of Kyathy slurping her lips!
Looking forward to seeing part 2 – and perhaps more about London?
Yours in shoes always (which you are totally rocking),
Babs
Thanks Babs! Love ya! And yes, your place looks (and always is!) AMAZING!
I have naturally curly hair. That may seem like a random statement, but I treat my blog photos like my hair – everyone is much happier if I just let them do whatever they want rather than trying to control them.
The result? I center all my photos in the middle and the words are above and below, just like yours. Sure, I admire people who can get photos side by side or next to words. But in the overall scheme of things? Not the end of the world if I can’t.
I read a post of advice to new bloggers (I started at Christmas myself). The main message was to concentrate on your words. Yeah, try to add photos and get the look “just right”, but don’t spend your quality efforts there or you’ll never write. Since that advice happened to fit in with my exact strategy, I decided it was the best advice ever.
Thank-you Cindy. That is, bar none, the best advice I have ever seen when it comes to writing.
I have no idea what server you are using for your blog so I don’t know if this will help or not. I do all my blogs using the Windows Live Writer, it was already on my computer when I purchased it, you just have to set it up. You can type out your blogs, position everything and then send it to get posted on your blog.
Like I said, I don’t know how much it will help you, but I love using it. So much easier and pretty user friendly.
I am going to set that up. Then I am going to write Part 2 of this post. By Friday. Thanks. You just kicked my butt. And you didn’t even know it!
Glad to help, hope you like it and it works for you.
as to photos, maybe your computer is slow? I don’t have trouble with that but I’m on a brand new fast computer…sorry, it does make a difference perhaps:( As to centering, there should be a little para icon at the top of the post you’re writing, you know, with little lines? Highlight your text and then click your choice. As to photos in general, I tend to focus more on writing so maybe don’t run into enough times to have issues. ONly posting photos more now as like you have been traveling..hope you don’t give up on the blogging!
Thanks for the tip Sandra! I definitely won’t stop blogging. I am just very (emphasis on VERY) infrequently posting since the summer hit!
